We're Growing!

And not in a way that my family would ever expect.

It totally happened on accident.  We were busy inside doing Halloweeny things

Like Dressing Kids

And it was past time for Trick Or Treating to begin, so I stuck a pumpkin outside to tell the kids to knock cause we had candy to hand out!  And then we went to the church's Trunk or Treat, and had dinner. And we got on with our lives.

Randomly we'd look at the forgotten pumpkin and say Someone needs to take that pumpkin out to the trash. Or If we're not careful we're going to have our own pumpkin patch.

And we'd promise to take care of it before the next trash day.  And so it went on for the last 7 and a half months... but now.

Now we're growing... That's right...

We're growing a pumpkin. At least one pumpkin, because I caught this little bloom on the vine.

Oh Man...

Single mother's favorite  holiday is this weekend. Oh yes it is. Father's Day.

That's right it's the day where you're supposed to honor your child's other 'parent'.   I personally didn't even know it was coming up until they said something about it in the newspaper last week.  I got a shocked OmiGAWD it's already here? Look on my face. But it wasn't and I got a small repreve. But now it is here. It is Sunday and I have no idea what I'll be doing.

Maybe I'll splurge on me and get some nice food for dinner.  Then I'll give the ladies 'pedicures' (as in I paint their toe nails. No calf rubbing here.)  and maybe I'll get around to giving myself that perm... so I'll have some curl to my hair on a regular basis. But we'll see.

Or maybe I'll just veg with some Lifetime Movies and Cheetos Puffs.  Either way I will be celebrating my other parental holiday this weekend.

I'm working on some posts in this crazy brain of mine just give it a chance.

I did it to Myself

I sabotaged my own Saturday mornings.

We're (still) potty training.  Cat gets it, but she's also (like her mother) easily distracted.  So we're still working on it.  Because when she's playing she doesn't wanna stop to go to the bathroom.  I totally get it, I don't wanna stop what I'm doing all the time to pee, but hey it is what it is.

But back to mornings...   Most nights Cat wears panties to bed.  In order not to change bed sheets every day, she's gotta go to the bathroom before she's even really awake.  Which gives me about 2 minutes to get her to the bathroom.  At first I wasn't sure what I should do to inspire her to move that little butt to the potty.  But then I got it. She's 2 (almost 3) so she's competitive.  Especially since her brother came along, there's nothing quite like sibling rivalry.

So Cat and I race to the potty every morning, at about 6:30.  And God help her sheets if someone is in the bathroom at 6:30.  And during the week that is wonderful.  We have time (for me) not to freak out about being late, and get her hair put up and everything before 'school'.

But on the weekends, when I'd like to sleep in to maybe, oh I don't know a crazy 8 am, I am not so crazy about the race to the bathroom. And trying to understand, when I'm still half asleep from staying up watching Zach Bagans and Ghost Adventures on Friday night, that Cat is saying "Ready, set, go."  And that I should be getting up to do my pretend shuffle run to the bathroom is just not easy.

Later today I'll be washing sheets because I didn't understand this morning.  But I did it to myself.
